Medical Portal

Welcome!

Welcome to the Medical Portal resource guide!

This is your one stop shop for all things when it comes to medical sciences. On the left hand side of the page, you will find a variety of tabs about using the library, citations and writing, finding sources and so on! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Alumni Medical Library's reference department, or send an email to the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine liaison, David Flynn, at dflynn@bu.edu.

Using Alumni Medical Library

Journal article and book chapter requests normally take 1-4 business days to fill (Monday-Friday). For additional information on fees and policies, please see the ILL FAQ or contact the ILL Service at illmed@bu.edu.

The Boston University Alumni Medical Library is a private research facility that supports the educational, clinical and research needs of current Boston University students, faculty and staff in the schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Public Health. For more information about access and borrowing, head to our Access and Borrowing page.

To reserve space in one of the Medical Library study rooms on the 13th floor, please use the Alumni Medical Library Space Availability tool.

  • Reservations can be made by any current BU student, faculty, or staff member with a valid BU email.
  • Reservations can be made up to one week in advance.
  • Reservations can be made for up to 2 hours at a time for a maximum of 4 hours per day.
  • If you no longer need a space you have reserved, please cancel your reservation (it will be cancelled automatically 15 minutes after the starting time if you have not checked in, but cancelling earlier if you know you will not need the space allows others more time to plan).

Please be sure to check in when you arrive! If you do not check in, your booking will be cancelled by the system and another person may reserve the space even if you are there.

If the study rooms are booked, additional study space can be found by using the Medical Campus Study Space Finder.

Reference librarians are available to assist with questions regarding searches, library resources, and other topics. Librarians are available between 9-5, Monday-Friday for in-person or virtual reference consults. Please note, walk in reference is only available to in-person students, faculty and staff.
