Surviving and Thriving: AIDS, Politics and Culture

Alumni Medical Library is hosting a National Library of Medicine traveling exhibit, Surviving and Thriving: AIDS, Politics and Culture, from September 15 to October 20, 2023.

Surviving and Thriving/Sobrevivir y Prosperar, a bilingual refresh of a 2013 exhibition project, illustrates an iconic history of HIV/AIDS alongside lesser-known examples of historical figures who changed the course of the pandemic. The original exhibition was curated by Jennifer Brier, PhD, a scholar at the University of Illinois at Chicago and designed by Riggs Ward Design. There is also a digital exhibit and gallery that compliments the physical exhibit on display at the library. Discover this rich selection of digitized posters and other ephemera on HIV/AIDS from 1981 to the present day. All the items are part of the National Library of Medicine’s Digital Collections.
