Online Support

The Library provides a number of online services supporting course instructors, including:

  • Subject Guides: Librarians can create subject guides to provide easy access to information resources
  • Web support: Librarians can design and maintain web portals to highlight information relevant to your course and students.
  • Tutorials: Librarians can design online tutorials guiding students through the search process.
  • Medical Image Resources: A selection of websites featuring medical images is available from the Library’s homepage. Please be aware of copyright when using these sites.

The Reference Desk is staffed by Master of Library and Information Science (MLS) or equivalent degree prepared librarians Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm EST. Reference and research assistance are available via email at refquest@bu.edu or via our Ask a Librarian page.

Boston University Medical Campus (BUMC) students, faculty, staff, residents, and other users who have a BU login name and Kerberos password can access licensed online resources from off-campus locations through an authentication service called EZproxy. These resources include electronic journals, textbooks, databases, and other Web-based tools. Users no longer need the VPN or Proxy Server to access most resources.

  • If you need to renew or apply for a BU (Kerberos) login account, please follow the instructions on the Computer Lab’s Accessing Library Resources page.
  • For more information on EZproxy, please visit the BU Information Services & Technology EZproxy page.
  • If your BU ID and password are not working (you are not able to sign into any BU service), please contact BUMC IT via the Computing Help Desk at (617) 358-1111 or bumchelp@bu.edu. Your account may need to be updated or renewed.
