Writing Literature Reviews

What is Scientific Peer-Reviewed Literature?

What is Scientific Peer-Reviewed Literature?

  • Scientific peer-reviewed literature is published in established journals, professional organizations or within higher education and written by experts in the field.
  • Peer reviewed articles are reviewed by authors’ peers who are also experts in their field and go through the rigorous peer review process before they can be published in order to ensure that they are well researched, ethical, and high-quality pieces of scholarly work.
  • It is important to remember that one way to double check that an article is peer-reviewed is to check the journal itself, as they should include this specification in the journal’s editorial information.

Where can I find it?

While there are many journals and databases that you can use to find peer-reviewed articles, these databases are a great starting point and offer a wide coverage of biomedical and health sciences literature.
