Join us for Part 3 of the Unsung Black Heroes in Medicine series, hosted by the BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine’s Diversity & Inclusion Office in collaboration with the Alumni Medical Library.

This virtual discussion will feature Maria Smilios, author of The Black Angels: The Untold Story of the Nurses Who Helped Cure Tuberculosis. Maria, a BU alum, discovered the Black Angels while working as a science editor. Inspired by their story, she conducted years of research, including interviews with historians, archivists, and medical professionals. Maria will share insights into her writing and research process behind this compelling book.
