Accessibility and Disability

The BU Office of the Ombuds is a "confidential, neutral, and independent resource providing informal assistance to the faculty, staff, and students on the Charles River and Medical Campuses." This resource is a great place to go if you are unsure about the next steps of a difficult problem or just need a confidential person to talk to.

Faculty and staff seeking workplace accommodations should not go to Disability & Access Services, which serves the student populations at BU. Faculty and staff should instead register with the Equal Opportunity Office.

The Faculty and Staff Assistance Office (FSAO) is a resource that is available to all BU employees and their "household family members." Here, "BU faculty and staff can find help for a range of personal, work-related, and family concerns."

Do you need to report a general accessibility barrier? According to the Accessibility Working Group, "barriers on campus may include items such as an inoperative elevator, a blocked pathway, an inaccessible entrance, or digital accessibility." Barriers may be reported to the working group through the intake form located on their homepage.

Staff and Faculty Extend Boston University Disability Support works to "empower faculty and staff with disabilities at Boston University to advocate together as a community for resources, information, and support."
